In early 2020, we released the first international article on the impact of the oil spill in the Northeast coast and the problems faced by fishermen. Invited by the editor, the International Collective of Support to Fisheries Workers (ICSF) journal highlighted our article and encouraging international awareness. We are honored to know that the initiative, written from the perspective of the actors close to the fishing communities, ended up catalyzing a series of resources to address the issue of that environmental disaster/crime.

On the other hand, from the scientific research perspective, the mobilization of both the São Paulo and Pernambuco funding agencies (FAPESP and FACEPE) which culminated in the release of a joint call, allowed the selection of five projects.

We are very pleased to announce the result of the joint proposal submission, together with colleagues from the Federal University of Pernambuco, which has been supported by a series of movements.
