On October 9, 2020, Penn State's Alliance for Education (United States) and AIR Center (based in Portugal), organized the high-level event All-Atlantic Summit Innovation for Sustainable Development and Blue Economy: Fostering Recovery Global Economic Economy in the World.

Prof. Mary Gasalla was a speaker at the thematic session on "Numerical Modeling", presented scenarios and models for biodiversity and ecosystem services illustrated by examples from the working groups in which she participates, and bringing the perspective of sciences integration.

The final debate of the session was of great interest to the virtual audience and included great speakers of the session, such as Italian oceanographer Nadia Pinardi, from the University of Bologna, Ramiro Neves (Portugal), among other researchers in the field of Physical Oceanography.
