h2020 The approval of the project “Towards the Sustainable Development of the Atlantic Ocean: Mapping and Assessing the present and future status of Atlantic marine ecosystems under the influence of climate change and exploitation" was an important achievement for the international consortium that brings together 32 institutions 15 countries, and for their for joint research common goals. Funded by the European Commission's H2020/BG8 call, the new Mission Atlantic aims to carry out systematic assessments along the Atlantic Ocean, in addition to promoting international cooperation and capacity building proposed by the Belém Agreement (Europe, South Africa and Brazil). The University of São Paulo, on behalf of the Oceanographic Institute, is part of the new consortium, and we were pleased to participate in its launch in September 2020. Since then, there have been lots of virtual meetings and discussions. We thank everyone involved, and especially the Denmark Technical University (DTU) for conducting this orchestra that promises exciting oceanic “concerts”.
